President-Elect Candidates (1 Position Available)

Cristina Dominguez De Quezada

Cristina Dominguez De Quezada, PhD, MSN, RN, CNE

President-Elect Nominee | El Paso Chapter

Assistant Professor, The University of Texas at El Paso

I am honored to submit my candidacy for President-elect of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN). As an Assistant Professor and Nurse Scientist, my career is dedicated to two pillars: advancing the health of our comunidad and strengthening the workforce that serves them. My research addresses a critical tipping point—mitigating occupational stress and its physiological impact. I bring a data-driven lens to leadership, ensuring NAHN’s advocacy is evidence-based and designed to create environments where our members thrive, not just survive. As a first-generation nurse, I have navigated systemic racism and microaggressions. These experiences fuel my commitment to dismantling barriers and mentoring others toward professional independence. Leadership is my responsibility to ensure a smoother path for those following behind us.
My Vision for NAHN I aim to cement NAHN as the premier professional home for Hispanic/Latino/e/x nurses by:
  • Elevating Influence: Leveraging our expertise to command a seat at policy and health equity tables.
  • Expanding Mentorship: Supporting transitions from clinical practice to leadership and research.
  • Fostering Growth: Ensuring every member has the resources and safety to reach their full potential.
Together, we will be the definitive force for health equity.
Armando Riera

Armando Riera, MSN, AANP-C, AHP

President-Elect Nominee | Miami Chapter

Primary Care Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Jackson Memorial Hospital

NAHN is more than an organization—it is a beacon of inspiration and unity for Hispanic nurses nationwide. We have faced unprecedented challenges, emerging stronger, more resilient, and more united than ever before. As your President-Elect, I will bring forward-thinking leadership to amplify our collective voice and expand influence in healthcare, education, and policy. My service on the NAHN Board of Directors has equipped me with the vision, accountability, and dedication needed to lead with purpose and integrity.

If elected, I will focus on:

  1. Connection – A vision for Regional Directors to foster collaboration among chapters, support regional growth, and ensure every chapter has the resources and representation it needs—so no member is left behind.
  2. Financial Stability – Practice responsible stewardship while expanding membership to keep NAHN strong, sustainable, and prepared for future generations.
  3. Advocacy – Mentor and empower the next generation of Hispanic nurse leaders to influence community health, engage in policy advocacy, and amplify our voice through publications, presentations, and professional platforms.

As President, I understand that NAHN’s greatest strength lies in its members, and together we will continue building an organization where every Hispanic nurse feels connected, supported, and empowered. I respectfully ask for your vote.
