NAHN is partnering with the University of Alabama's Capstone College of Nursing which received a $1.7 million grant over four years to increase the number of baccalaureate-prepared Latino nurses. Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Nursing Workforce Diversity Program, the BAMA-Latino Project will target and recruit 80 Latino associate degree registered nurses and prepare them for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing via the Capstone College of Nursing's online RN to BSN mobility program. All nursing courses are offered online, so participants can continue to work full time while earning their degree. Clinical activities can be completed at facilities close to home. The BAMA-Latino Project will support Latino nurses by providing scholarships for pre-entry preparation and the RN-BSN bridge program.
Applicants must have graduated from an accredited associate degree nursing program, live in a state from which the College accepts applications, be in good standing with their licensure, and be a member of the NAHN. For more information, contact Dr. Norma Cuellar at ncuellar@ua.edu.
