Maria Perez,PhD, RNC-INPOB, LHR
Maria Perez has been a Registered Nurse for 32 years, 25 years were dedicated to Labor and Delivery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Graduated from Miami-Dade Community College in 1987 with an Associate in Science of Nursing. She acquired her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Barry University in 2007 and continued her pursuit of academia by graduating from Florida Atlantic University in 2011 with her Master’s in Science of Nursing. She accomplished her Doctorate in Philosophy from Barry University in 2018. She continued to acquire several instructor statuses to further her knowledge and education. She holds titles such as a Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager for AHCA (LHRM), AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitor Instructor, STABLE Instructor, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP Instructor.
Maria Perez has held several leadership positions such as the Perinatal Educator of Palmetto Hospital Women’s Services, Director of Education at Palmetto Hospital and Hialeah Hospital, Director of Nursing at City College, Kendall campus. She began to develop her career in academia in 2006 working at prestige’s schools such as, Florida National University, City College, Miami Dade College, Florida International University, NOVA University, and is currently working at West Coast University.
She volunteered to participate in global public health missions to Argentina 2017 and Spain 2019 for health promotion and education of the underserve population of the country. She has presented internationally to the universities and hospitals while on the global public health programs.
She is currently the secretary of NAHN and the president of the NAHN Miami chapter.
