2012 NAHN and IFC Establish Partnership

The International Formula Council (IFC) is partnering with the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) to develop educational materials for NAHN members and their patients about safe and nutritious infant feeding methods.

The educational program will offer consumer information that will be available online in a downloadable format in Spanish and English for NAHN members to share with their patients who are the parents of newborns.

It will cover topics such as the advantages of breastfeeding, how to tell when babies are hungry, how to position a baby for feeding, how to prepare a bottle and safe storage rules.

“IFC and NAHN agree that breastfeeding is the ideal infant feeding choice and infant formula is the only safe, recommended alternative,” says Mardi Mountford, IFC executive vice president.” “We believe many new mothers will benefit from learning about proper feeding practices that can help to ensure their babies are nutritionally satisfied and happy.  We are pleased to be working with NAHN to educate nurses who in turn, can teach their patients.”

IFC is an association of manufacturers and marketers of formulated nutrition products such as infant formulas and adult nutritionals.  IFC members are based predominantly in North America and include:  Abbott Nutrition; Mead Johnson Nutrition; Nestlé Infant Nutrition; PBM Products, LLC, A Perrigo Company; and Pfizer Nutrition.
