NAHN National Association of Hispanic Nurses® is a non-profit professional association committed to the promotion of the professionalism and dedication of Hispanic nurses by providing equal access to educational, professional, and economic opportunities for Hispanic nurses.

NAHN is also dedicated to the improvement of the quality of health and nursing care of Hispanic consumers.

Relevant NAHN Experience:

Since 2004 I have been a proud member of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses. During this time, I have held several offices in our local Valle del Sol Chapter, such as treasurer and secretary. Furthermore, I have chaired the scholarship committee with goals to increase the number and amount of scholarships issued. I have also operated as membership chair for the last four years and have increased membership from 40 members to currently over 150 members! This effort was rewarded with the Membership Ambassador award for 2009, 2010, and 2011 for recruiting the most members nationally.

Platform Statement

If elected as a Board Member, I would focus my efforts towards growing our membership on a national level. In doing so, highlight the efforts and accomplishments our association has achieved in academics and charitable causes. A secondary focus will be to expand academic scholarship to assist in advancing nursing education. We should be encouraging various levels of scholarships at all degree levels. A third area of attention is to bring more visibility to the overall goals and action of NAHN; either through print or other media, we can expand the view of what NAHN is and what we will be in the years to come.
